If you have the time to write that then you might as well fill up your life with guild wars.

Riiiight. You've never written a piece of text before? It's really not that different from what columinists do @ newspapers. Maybe when you're older, you'll understand.

I used to play a bit, but now I will occasionally get on mondays for the traveler, Ill play any new content, I might RA now and again (I'm attempting to get into PvP a bit) but otherwise I think i have personally played GW to the point I don't really get enjoyment out of it anymore. But as you said Online games have taken 10,000% more of my time then single player games easy. I have played a few RPGs for 100+ hours and I feel thats very good. But GW has 3000 something (maybe 2300-2400 real play time). And CoD4 has about 8 days now.
I would say do it after your reading, learning, ect. So it does not distract you. I personally also love to read (but hate the library /sigh) and I do it mostly at night while in bed. (more 4 o clock "just one more chapter" events than I are to remember). In closing you are the longest post I have probably ever bothered to read and don't regret it.

In order to really move away from the game, you should delete everything in the account and then uninstall.
That way, the temptation to play will be fully erased.
If you cannot will yourself to delete your characters, just get yourself perma banned.

Worst. Advice. Ever. I deleted my characters and completely regret it now. It was such a dumb thing to do. I knew I could quit because I already quit in the past for extended periods of time, and it was never a problem.
It's true that I didn't enjoy GW anymore, but if there was some special event like Halloween I would log in and sort of enjoy myself. Besides that, I would sometimes keep in touch with my guild members.
Now I just hope those unique things you get in GW2 through your GW1 titles aren't as awesome as I used to hope. I probably will try GW2.

This is what I do before I get on the computer, and it works great. I used to start the day going on the computer... that's no good. Starting the day with some quality reading is much better. Starting the day right is always very important. And why don't you like libraries!? Libraries are great.

At the risk of treating guru as livejournal, I think an update is warranted.
Quitting this game has been a complete disaster. Deleting my characters was the worst thing I could've possibly done. I have a history of deleting my characters, you see, and deleting them this time made the game more appealing. Starting over always appealed to me, and this time was no different. It started to consume my life again, but luckily it only got really bad for only a few days. The past few weeks have been quite miserable, though.
I basically wanted to stop using GW, and changed password into something I can't remember. The character limit was 15, so I wrote 15 numbers randomly on a piece of paper and made it my password. I discarded the paper. I reckon I could still somehow get my account back, but we'll see. This seems like a drastic enough solution. The question must be asked, of course, why things could so easily go wrong. One day things were going fine, and the next day I completely screw up and play GW the entire day? It seems I was walking a fine line all along. I believe I have the answer for this, but, unfortunately (for the sake of everyone's reading pleasure), I cannot indulge into this, as it is a personal matter.
So what's the moral of the story? 'Play with moderation'? No, it's 'Don't delete your characters, dummy'. *punches himself*

Sorry for rezzing this thread:P
But quite funny reading this thread^^
What you just did was extremly stupid...
Re-Download GW, visit it AGAIN? etc etc.
Also fallback much >.
TIP: Start a new fun game, FPS would be best.
I really recommend trying out: BattlefieldHeroes.com!
Took me away from GW atleast - and got into a BF community, so no more GW on me!=)
